Lake Erie Nature and Science Center in Bay Village January programs highlight space and our world

BAY VILLAGE, Ohio — The Lake Erie Nature & Science Center has enough to keep all Scouts busy and informed throughout the whole month of January.Programs at the cozy facility in the woods off Wolf Road have a consistent record of being, at once, informative and charming. There is truly something for everyone, and no one need ever get bored, thanks to the live animals, educational programs and a world-class planetarium — with free admission to boot.The schedule for January includes a special Frogs and Polliwogs program for toddlers beginning Jan. 28. Those interested are encouraged to register, as the class will probably fill quickly.Jan. 12 begins some big days for Scouting activities. Girls will “Get Moving” on Saturday morning, while boys will have the opportunity to earn a Soil & Water Conservation Merit Badge in a workshop.Cub Scouts can join the fun on Jan. 15 with a “Sky is the Limit” evening program on the twinkling stars above.For Brownies, a “Wonders of Water” session will be held on Jan. 19, both in the morning and the afternoon.The Daisy Scouts will take off for the stars with a “Space Science Explorer” evening session or a look at “Our Natural World” on Jan. 26, both morning and afternoon.Though going to the center is a wonderful experience any day of the year, it makes for a special visit when outdoor activities at home can be curtailed due to cold temperatures.
